Sweeetbox camera bracket
The
Sweeetbox camera bracket was designed for skydivers by
skydivers. Several years of camera flying and the experience of dealing
with
many camera boxes has led to the innovative design of an inexpensive,
universal,
highly practical camera mount.
The
Sweeetbox is designed to accommodate more than a single
camera model, alleviating the need to replace the camera bracket when
upgrading
to a newer model.
There
are two models of the Sweetbox available. One model is
designed specifically to fit the Hawkeye helmet, while the other is
designed to
fit most flat sided camera helmets.
The
Sweeetbox is designed to accommodate the following Sony
DCR cameras:
- DCR-PC5
- DCR-PC9
- DCR-PC101
- DCR-PC105
- DCR-PC109
The
Sweeetbox can be mounted in four positions:
- Facing forward
while upright
- Facing forward
while upside down
- Facing backwards
while upright
- Facing backwards
while upside down
The
Sweeetbox is extremely light and durable, visually
pleasing, and is easily differentiated from similar products available
on the
market. The Sweeetbox camera bracket is manufactured from zinc coated
galvanized steel and is then powder coated with mirror black epoxy,
creating an
extremely durable and light product.
The
Sweeetbox is designed to allow the Velcro strap to move
freely when the bracket is mounted flush to the helmet in order to
accommodate
several different camera types and mounting positions. This is achieved
by
raising the two outside bracket supports during the manufacturing
process. This
is a unique product differentiator not available from any competitors
on the
market today.
The
Sweeetbox is designed to support a wide range of desired
camera angles. Removing one of the two top screws enables extreme angle
shots
for dramatic video footage. The mounting hardware has been over
specified to
allow for safe flying with only two screws. The mounting clips supplied
with the
Sweeetbox standard camera mount support 250 lbs each when installed
according
to manufacturers instructions.
Accessories
included with the Sweetbox are:
- A custom assembled
thumb screw with a neoprene lock washer to ensure a tight, locking fit.
- Mounting hardware
appropriate for the target helmet.
- Adjustable Velcro
strap with a plastic buckle
- Installation
instructions and a mounting template for non Hawkeye helmets
- Groovy stickers

The “Sweeetbox” is a very
versatile camera mount that fits easily on any flat sided helmet. The
mount is strong, light and versatile and accommodates the Sony
PC5/PC9/PC101/PC105/PC109 cameras, allowing for new or different
cameras without the expense of a new mount.
The unique
design of the “Sweeetbox”
allows the camera to be
mounted in four ways: upright or upside down while facing forwards or
backwards. The ability to mount the camera in multiple orientations and
extreme angles is ideal for capturing interesting and unusual camera
views while skydiving or base jumping.
Another
unique feature is the
easy to move strap system that allows the strap to be moved to a
convenient location for securing the camera in different orientations
without having to loosen or remove the bracket from the helmet.
The “Sweeetbox”
is strong and light with
a sharp looking black powder coated mirror finish. A thumb screw with a
special neoprene coated washer and Velcro strap are also included.
